The overall economic scenario is not one to cheer about. Therefore organisations that are going ahead with their recruitment process are certainly in an enviable position and would want the right candidates to join them.  But in reality, the number of good project managers has not increased. However the screening level of recruitment for project managers has not come down when one considers the recruitment market on the whole.

The recruitment for IT project management jobs has not been able to remain unaffected by the downturn but has certainly been comparatively flexible. Often employment tends to be temporary with organisations preferring to hire on project basis. Organisations are definitely going ahead with their recruitment plans and one can see a couple of emerging trends in the same.

It is quite evident that people who are already working at a good position with a reputed company are not quite willing to shift at this point in time. There are chances that the trends might change in the coming months. But this depends on a large extent on the prevalent economic conditions. This certainly has an impact on the overall recruitment scenario as candidates are not quite willing to shift and this lowers the churn of vacancies.

Also hiring managers for IT project manager jobs take their time for proper selection and often have to wait for approval from the concerned authorities. This also slows down the process of recruitment. Despite the fact that vacancies exist, there is a substantial amount of time lost in filling up the positions.

Recruitment agencies complain that companies take a long time fretting over choosing the right candidate. But despite these deterrents project management jobs have certainly emerged as one of the most resilient areas of recruitment even in the present economic scenario while others have definitely suffered a setback.
