It is recommended that you should apply for the visa 90 days before the date of registration that is  given on the I-20 form. But if the date gets expired or if you are not able to arrive at the institution on on time, then it is advised that you must obtain an extension form informing them the date of your arrival.

Requirements:

1. The most vital point is that the University should accept your admission as a student. You need to submit the I-20 form, which actually provides the confirmation by the institution. This form is required to get visa.

2. It is compulsory that you must know English in order to undergo a course in a particular institution in the United States. You need to give them a proof that you know English in the I-20 form.

3. As a student you need to give them a solid proof about your stable financial conditions  in order to determine that you have enough funds to meet the educational expenses. You can even show funds from your sponsor, who is taking care of the educational expenses.

4. You have to provide a proof to the consulate that your purpose of visit is only concerned with  educational purpose.
