It is a fact that as every child approaches school age, his parents wonder if he has the necessary skills as well as the abilities to pass his kindergarten test or not. There are a lot of things that you as a parent can do to prepare your child to enter the school environment.

To enhance the interest of your child in activities like reading, you should read aloud to them as this will allow him to understand that the words that are printed on paper or any surface actually represent the spoken words.
The next step would be that you can ask questions to him about any story. This exercise will help him   to build up his comprehension skills.

You can also teach him as what are the words that rhyme same and show him how many of these word's spellings are similar. When you involve yourself in loud reading exercise, you should point out unknown words in front of him and explain their meanings to build up his vocabulary.

You can take him to the library to read. There are a lot of institutions that are especially crafted for preschoolers. They are geared up with story times, puppet shows, and other activities that are specially designed to encourage a love for reading in your kids.
These kinds of activities are the perfect opportunity for your child to become familiar with the whole infrastructure of the institution itself so that after sometimes, he will feel comfortable going inside the institution and  check out books and do research for school on his own.

It is a very good exercise to print the name of your child pretty often so that he can know as to how it looks in print and how to spell it.

You can also use those alphabets that are involved in his name to help him able to understand those letters with certain sounds. You can take those alphabets that are present in the name of your child and help him finds words that involve the usage of the same letters that are present in his own name.

This exercise will allow him to practice writing his name in the beginning itself.

In order to help your child in terms of knowing the kindergarten maths in a better way, you have to make sure that he gets familiar with almost all kinds of shapes and colors in the beginning only.

You have to make sure that your child is geared up with a strong ability to at least count to ten (preferably twenty). This will add to an advantage as far as his screening for KG is concerned. Beside, it would also help him to increase his own basic knowledge as well.
