Let me tell you that the biggest part of the fear that surrounds learning disabilities is concerned with misinformation.

It is true that parents have right to think about their child's well-being, specially when they come to know that he or she has a learning disability, but if they just know about the think without knowing the actual facts about the disorder than it is of no use.

Following are the myths, or rather I would say the misconceptions about learning disorders:.

The first misconception is: Learning disabilities are environmental.

This statement is absolutely false.

The statement is placing the entire blame on parents for their child's learning problems. But actually it is not true...
It is a fact that these kings of learning disorders are not because of parental neglect; but actually they're genetic. It means that they are geared up with inherited characteristic, just like the example of  height or eye color. But it does not mean that if a child's father is dyslexic then the child will also be the same. They are a luck of draw... But there are  Learning problems are not caused because of anyone's fault, but are a result of faulty wiring in
the brain.
So put away the guilt.

The second misconception is that all the learning disabilities are the same. This statement is actually false! In reality, there are various types of learning problems. Some of the most common ones include problems like dysgraphia, auditory, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and visual perception disabilities, and memory disabilities.

These disease, actually some of them, might have similar symptoms, but it does not mean that they are similar!

The third myth about learning disorders is that these kinds of disabilities require special education. I would not call that this statement is false but it is not at all necessary in some cases... So statement is partially true and partially false!
It depends on the level of difficulty as to what kind of attention should be provided to these people... but ATTENTION IS ALWAYS REQUIRED!

Another misconception is that those people who suffer from learning disorders have lack of intelligence. IT IS NOT TRUE! Many children are intelligent just like any other student... but because of the fact that they face certain problems in terms of processing certain problems, it seems that they don't have a good level of intelligence.

All you people out there... please clear your misconceptions!!!
