It is widely acknowledged that early childhood education is critical for developing comprehension skills that deeply impact a child’s cognitive abilities and aptitude for learning. What we do not know ,is the crucial role early childhood education can play towards a child’s future attitude toward academics.

Early childhood education should not just center around building cognitive pathways to learning. It is the time when curiosity needs to be encouraged and a love for learning inculcated .The lessons learned at this impressionable age profoundly influence a child's self esteem and personal development. For children, these lessons determine the way they perceive academics as well as other areas of their lives.

Parents must ensure that the needs of children are met during this time. Children being different do not respond equally well to educational stimuli. If you are obsessed with getting kids “up to speed”, this may have an adverse effect on their opinion of the learning process. It
is better to encourage children to explore subjects they like and offer assistance on the ones they do not, rather than spending disproportionate amount of time gaining proficiency in areas, they may have an aversion to. For areas that are the child's weak point, positive and consistent feedback can motivate the child to perform better.

Actually academic subjects can be compared to different forms of food. Getting children to eat vegetables with cheese sauce may require some persuasion, but the alternative of forcing them to eat vegetables without it is bound to backfire. While their palate may change over time, lessons learned and habits formed at that age usually last forever.

If handled with care, early childhood education can be an experience that moulds the way the child  views the world and gives them the confidence required  to successfully handle challenges they will inevitably face as adults. As we all know the seeds of adulthood are laid in our childhood past, it becomes even more necessary for parents to devote maximum time to the proper education of their young child.
