Parents of many children have this preconceived notion that colleges prefer students who have done their schooling from a public school to the students who have practised homeschooling.

Hence, we often find many parents getting quite anxious and worried over the prospects of their homeschooled children. One oftens finds them trying to decide whether to continue with the homeschooling program. The fear that premier colleges do not give an equal opprtunity to students who have been educated at home, is a very common one.

Many such doubts and fears were subdued to a huge extent when two homeschooled boys were admitted into the prsetigious Harvard college. Like many other colleges, Harvard does not require a high school diploma for getting admission into their degree program. Nowadays, colleges are
found to be far more interested in the knowledge and behavior of children rather than in their highschool diplomas. Homeschooled children often stand up in this aspect and are preferred due to the diversity and richness they bring to the colleges.

The admission requirements varies from college to college. Whereas some colleges require an applicant to have a SAT score, many others just need a general equivalency diploma. The criterion varies from college to college but most do not have a specific highschool background requirements.

Many parents are loaded with such unnecessary concerns and as a result they try to frantically shift their homeschooled children to highschools. However, one can be rest addsured that college admissions are open to all individuals regardless of whether they are educated at a highschool or have undergone homeschooling
