Today we have a world of cut-throat competition. Knowledge is no longer a thing to be treasured and shared, but merely a criteria for competing with your peers. Parents, in turn, are also blinded with the sole ambition of imparting as much knowledge as possible into their child.

Today we have a world of cut-throat competition. Knowledge is no longer a thing to be treasured and shared, but merely a criteria for competing with your peers. Parents, in turn, are also blinded with the sole ambition of imparting as much knowledge as possible into their child.

Homeschooling's main aim of building up of a beautiful bond between the parents and the child is not served in this purpose. Although, it is important to impart some sense of routine and strictness when teaching your child, once in a while a parent should also remember to drop the role of a teacher and simply be a mother/father.

Often, parents fail to understand the importance of listening to their children. Listening just not merely mean nodding along your head while you pay the least bit of attention to your child. It is much more than that. A parent should try to understand the subtle emotions of their children.

Children often find it extremely difficult to express what they want to. Whether it is their needs and wants or even problems and confusions, children often fail to express their emotions clearly. As a parent, you should try to fill in this void and help the child emote. It is of crucial importance to make a child feel important and a parent should do this by repeatedly asking for the child's opinion. This can act as a major boost to the child's morale and self-belief.

It has been noted that parents unintentionally interrupt their child, when he/she is sharing something with them. This is a very bad practice and can have a drastic impact on the confidence of the child. We should try to remember how much we hate it when someone interrupts us. Silence should not be enforced on children. One understands that a slight degree of strictness and silence is required while teaching a child, but you should give him/her an adequate opportunity to talk and give his/her opinion. One of the key factors of successful homeschooling is the art of 'gentle parenting' and parents should always keep that in mind
