The Inner Planets of Our Solar System
The inner solar system of Galaxy comprises of four planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. Lets get some more information about these planets.

Mercury

Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun and is 48 million miles away from Earth at closes point in orbit. The planet is only 28.6 million miles away from sun. Mercury completes its revolution around the sun in 88 days and rotates on its axis in 58.65 days. The temperature at the planet can go from -300 degrees Fahrenheit to 800 degrees Fahrenheit. The surface of the mercury has craters that are developed because of cosmic collisions occurring for billions of years.

Venus

The size of Venus is similar to Earth and that is why it is being called Earth's Sister Planet. Venus is 25 million miles away from Earth and its orbit is the most circular of all other planets. It is 67 million miles from the sun and takes about 243 days to do one rotation on its axis. The revolution time taken by the planet to go around sun is less than 226.3 days, which means a daytime on Venus lasts for about 115 days and allows temperature to rise. Average temperature on the planet is about 867 degrees Fahrenheit. A dense atmosphere consisting Carbon Monoxide blocks the surface of Venus. Because of the presence of highly reflective sulphuric acid clouds, Venus becomes the brightest object in the night sky.

Earth

It is our home planet and the largest of inner planets. The Earth is between 91 to 94.5 million miles away from the sun. the temperature here ranges from -128 degrees Fahrenheit to 136 degrees Fahrenheit. The planet looks blue and white from space. Its surface is marked by large oceans and small land segments.

Mars

The planet is around 35 million miles away from Earth and around 128-155 million miles away from the Sun. The day here is similar to that of the Earth, about 24.6 hours and it takes similar of 1.88 Earth years to orbit the sun. Mars is also called Red Planet because of the layer of iron oxide covering it. Large number of craters are also present on the surface of the planet. The atmosphere at Mars is very, thus subjects the planet to harsh solar winds.
