However, you need to be sure that the program you choose is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). After completing the program it would be better to get certified either by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or the National Center for Competency Testing.
Most of the surgical techs are basically employed in hospitals. Some of the basic duties that a surgical tech supposed to do are assisting in the operating room before, during, and after surgery. They are required to place all the necessary surgical equipment and instruments, help patients to prep, passing instruments to the physicians during surgery, and transporting patients after the surgery.
